Housed in the beautiful 1890s era bank building, our display consists of images and interpretation which tells the story of the history of Cooktown over 200 years. Winner of a number of state awards for excellence.

The Archive and Research Centre offers research facilities for local and family history. Also houses an archive of local history.

Collections

Largest collection of Cooktown photos ever put together in one display. Most completely researched history of Cooktown to date. Topics covered include Aboriginals, Chinese, European, early mariners, fires, cyclones, gold rush, tin mining, wars, social histories, and more.
