Australian Journeys: Connections with the World
The Australian Journeys gallery explores the fascinating journeys of people and objects that connect Australia to the world.
People have journeyed to and from the Australian continent for millennia.
Each year, almost 11 million people arrive in Australia, and the same number depart.
Australian Journeys explores the personal stories of migrants, travellers and traders and how their objects have connected places in Australia with places abroad.
The gallery looks at the social, political and economic impacts of journeys beginning in the period before European settlement in Australia and continuing through to the 21st century.
